讲座内容

Students are very often encouraged to engage in self-assessment in the belief that this allows them to take ownership of their learning and contributes to the development of learner autonomy. Similar arguments apply to teacher self-assessment: by reflecting systematically on their competences, language teachers can become more aware of their strengths and weaknesses and take more responsibility for their own professional development. In this talk I describe the development and use of a self-assessment tool for language teachers and examine some of the challenges involved in encouraging teachers to assess their own competence.

主讲人介绍

Simon Borg has been involved in English language teaching (ELT) for 30 years, working in a range of international contexts, and is recognised internationally for his work on teacher cognition, teacher education, professional development and teacher research. He works as an ELT Consultant, with a particular focus on designing, facilitating and evaluating language teacher professional development programmes. He also holds Visiting Professor positions at the University of Leeds and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.
